Your answers remain private and are only shared with your personal matchmaking team. This insight helps us determine if you’d benefit from extra support, such as our Boost feature.
Within 48 hours of completing your questionnaire, you’ll meet your lead matchmaker—your main point of contact moving forward. You'll also be supported by a team that may include a Senior and/or Junior Matchmaker. Prior to your interview, you’ll receive emails about photo submission, criteria confirmation, and scheduling.
During this 90–120 minute session (or sometimes longer), your Lead Matchmaker will help you define deal breakers and negotiable traits—physical, personal, and lifestyle. You'll have an opportunity to ask questions, and your matchmaker will provide an initial assessment. Following the interview, email becomes our primary communication method, with responses within 24 hours. If you choose Coaching, you'll also receive bi-weekly phone sessions.
Your matchmakers will conduct a deep search both within and beyond Gayquation to find eligible candidates within your desired radius. Every potential match meets your criteria and is genuinely interested in connecting. We don’t offer blind dates—each match goes through a match approval flow. Candidates failing to meet relational standards may be dropped, and external matches undergo a background check to confirm authenticity.
After you approve a potential match, they become an official introduction, and you’ll receive their full details via email—View Sample Match. This is where you decide how to connect: email, phone, video call (Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp), or an Insta-Date. For the latter, your matchmaker turns into your “Date Butler,” coordinating time and place.
Feedback from both you and your match is crucial to improving match quality. Alongside match details, you’ll receive a Probability of Spark (POS) rating. Your Lead Matchmaker may also suggest ways to broaden your options. Plus, you’ll get regular market updates and progress reports through Optima.
